Frequently Asked Questions

WHY ARE OUR PRICES SO LOW?

We don’t have to pay for the costs associated with a typical nursery. We don’t have to pay overhead for a retail setting or for people to manage it. DeBoer Tree Farm is on our family property.

WHY IS CONTAINER-GROWN BETTER?

All of our trees are in a 5 gallon (or larger) container. By doing so, no roots need to be cut to leave the farm. All trees are grown in a natural soil and not root-bound. This makes for much less transplant shock.

WHY DRIVE SO FAR FOR TREES?

If you make the drive to DeBoer Tree Farm, we’ll make it worth your while with the highest quality trees and bushes and incredible prices. With over 6,000 trees in stock, it’s worth the drive if you need one tree or a couple hundred!

What type of soil is in the containers?

The soil is a mixture of natural soil from the area with Galva Silt Loam, corn stock compost and perlite for extended life.

This mixture helps trees so they do not become root bound and there is the lower chance of wrapping roots to occur. Therefore the trees do not strangle themselves.

You do not need to slice roots when you plant your tree.

WHat fertilizers do you use?

No chemical fertilizers are used on the trees. A mixture of manure and compost is used.
